ABOUT LIZZIE

Lizzie is a Tahoe-based conceptual artist.  Her work addresses her experiences of being raised in a family that has multi-generational trauma.  Traditionally trained in painting and drawing she has been expanding her work into sculptural installations.  Thibodeau’s development to creating three dimensional forms has allowed her work to transform the landscapes and provide an environment.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Throughout my practice I have had a common thread of conveying an emotional journey for the viewer, whether that is exploring scale or color, a questionable subject, or a spacial shift, all while aspiring to present fluidity and beauty. Traditionally my practice has been in painting and drawing, but in more recent years my work has evolved into more sculptural and installation based projects.  With this new transition, I aspire to transform a space beyond the canvas, to engage an environment change, and look to subtly play with the senses for an overall experience.

GALLERY

By: Lizzie Thibodeau

The Saint Mary's Art Center is hosting my MFA Thesis Gallery, Echos of Breathe. This gallery is located in one of my favorite towns, Virginia City, NV. The gallery is a collection of New Genre sculptures and photographs expressing my past and current life. Unfortunately with the Covid-19 Pandemic, the gallery is not open to the public so enjoy my virtual gallery.

MY EVOLUTION

Over the past 20 years my art has evolved from many different genres into what it is now. I've played with all mediums and now realize I usually have a concept and then choose what medium to use to show my concept.
