LAUNDRY
By: Lizzie Thibodeau
In the fall of 2018 I was able to pursue my MFA. This had been a dream of mine since I graduated with my BFA, but many obstacles deterred me for over 10 years. When I created the Shadow Boxes it became clear that I needed to make my dream a reality. I really wanted to challenge myself by working beyond the 2D plane. I wanted to utilize the work I do with young adults and weave that into new work. Within my practice and career, I use my experiences to help navigate life, sharing experiences with others to find common ground and conversation. I experimented with lint, dryer sheets, and family photographs. I am looking to capture the idea of time and process, by utilizing these items. This first phase was truly experimental and in my practice I need to produce a lot of work in order for me to see the successful direction.
